Description

Below you’ll find a review from one of the first TJ owners to test out our new Wrangler Fix PCM tune for 2005-2006 Jeep Wrangler TJs (click here to see the original forum thread):

“I now have the new WranglerFix performance tune. Here are my initial observations:

The process:

Those who already have a WranglerFix ECU send their existing unit back to WranglerFix. They will need your VIN.

The cost for the upgrade is $275. Customers receive an electronic invoice when WranglerFix receives the unit.

Turnaround time was 5 days from California to Florida and back.

What the performance tune does:

This is not a “race tune.” Shift points and other parameters have been altered to increase performance and efficiency, but this will not turn your I-6 into a V-8. The best way to describe what the tune does is make the 42RLE automatic transmission with 0.69:1 4th gear/overdrive play nicely with the 4.0 engine. It does that job well.

I have not driven with it enough to record rpms at the shift points, etc., but that will come. My goal so far has been first impressions and observations regarding drivability. In that regard, I can say that my LJ now shifts the way it should have from the factory and I can make more rpm with less throttle.

After reinstalling my WranglerFix ECU with performance tune, the number of times I have reached for the OD “off” button is zero. Before, I couldn’t go anywhere without being reminded by sluggish performance of the need to keep OD from engaging. That alone makes the price of the upgrade worthwhile.

Stay tuned.
